| The Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases Sponsor Awards 2010 |

The Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases and the Swiss Society of Hospital Hygiene awards at their Annual Meeting 3 prizes, each in the amount of CHF 10’000.00 for outstanding scientific achievements in basic, clinical or epidemiological research in infectious diseases. The prizes are sponsored by the two societies and by Tibotec/Janssen-Cilag AG. |

Eligibility: |
|
Eligible are authors of a scientific publication in the above named fields. A significant part of the work must have been performed in Switzerland. The papers must have been either published or accepted for publication between February 15, 2009 and June 15, 2010 by an internationally renowned journal. |

Conditions: |
|
- The award is personally given to the author of the publication.
- All co-authors of the work concur with the submission.
- In the written and oral appraisal of the awarded research work, contributing coauthors as well as the clinic/institution are mentioned by name.
- The award is intended to support a research project of the awardee.
- The award is announced each year in the Swiss medical press, on the SSI and the SSHH websites and to the members of the SSI and SSHH.
- A Prize commission designated by the committee of the SSI and SSHH performs the evaluation. Decisions made by the committee are definitive and not subject to appeals.
- In case of no applications or in case no paper qualifies for the prize, the award is cancelled for the respective year.
- The awardees must appear in person at the award ceremony to be held during the joint annual meeting of the SSI and SSHH and give a short presentation of the work.

|
Applications should be accompanied by a cover letter stating the name of the applicant and the prize category or categories applied for. If the paper is accepted but not yet published please attach the letter of acceptance. Please submit the documents by e-mail to the president of the prize committee:
