The Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases (SSI) is dedicated to fostering innovation and excellence in infectious disease research.
Our Awards recognize and reward outstanding scientific contributions — both basic and clinical — that significantly advance understanding and treatment in this critical field. Meanwhile, through our Fellowship Programs, we support the next generation of research leaders, offering unique opportunities to develop and expand their expertise. SSI Awards 2026
First Prize: CHF 8,000
Second Prize: CHF 5,000
Third Prize: CHF 2,000
Prizes will be awarded in both basic and clinical research categories, providing an opportunity for researchers in both domains to be recognized for their exceptional work.
Researchers must meet the following conditions to apply:
- Outstanding Scientific Publication: Applicants must be authors of an excellent scientific paper or a related group of papers in the field of infectious diseases.
- Swiss Contribution: A significant portion of the research must have been conducted in Switzerland.
- Publication Timeline: The research paper must be published or accepted by a reputable, peer-reviewed international journal between July 1 of the previous year and June 30 of the current year.
To be considered, applications must include:
A cover letter specifying:
- The applicant's name and email address
- The award category being applied for
- A statement confirming all authors’ agreement to the submission
- Proof of Publication: If the paper is accepted but not yet published, include the acceptance letter.
- SSI Membership: Applicants must be active members of the Swiss Society for Infectious Diseases (SSI).
A specialized prize committee, appointed by the SSI board, will evaluate all applications. The committee's decisions are final and not subject to appeal. The awards aim to support the winner’s future research projects.
Awards will be presented at the SSI Annual Meeting, held each year in August/September. Winners will also be showcased on the official SSI website.
All applications must be submitted by July 1st every year.
